Our new place had an old electric lawnmower tucked away in the garden shed. It’s old, really old, but it’s new to me.

I had never used an electric mower and never really wanted one. I take that back, I’ve been fawning over the new battery powered mowers that have been cropping up the past few years, but this mower isn’t that. It has a cord!

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a corded mower in use and I’ve certainly never used one. I had a hard time getting past the thought of me running over the cord. I cut the cord the first time I used my electric shrub trimmer.

I have to say I really liked it. It was quiet, really quiet! I guess I was still expecting the loudness of a gas mower. The cord wasn’t too bad although I twice hit the end of the rope and had to get another extension. I do think I’d prefer a battery, but this will do for now!

I guess I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention the reduced environmental impact. We live in a coastal flood zone and I try to be as eco friendly as possible. Lawnmower engines are dirty!
